Shocking Footage Shows Moment Law Enforcement Get Knifed in Unexpected Assault

Both Senior Officers Moments Before the Assailant Got Stunned

A police sergeant who jumped to the help of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a knifeman has been awarded the King's Commendation for Bravery.

Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against 27-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he pressed a knife to the throat of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the officers and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist subsequent to a road collision in Whalley Range in summer 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.

"Officer stabbed," PC Wolstencroft stated over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashcam recording released by the police department showed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a head covered, rush to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a blade extended.

He collided with the officer who tripped and fell to the pavement, before Sgt Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the ground despite being repeatedly struck with the weapon.

PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and awaited a safe opportunity, ending the confrontation to an finish.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get help on my throat here, I've been stabbed in the throat."

Sgt Ansell suffered two lacerations to his neck and more wounds to his arms and torso, while Sergeant Foster experienced slash wounds.

The department reported Sgt Foster used his bare hands to stem his fellow officer's hemorrhaging prior to paramedics came.

The new recognition follows subsequent to the law enforcement team were granted departmental Bravery Awards in late 2023 and the police federation award from the area officer association in spring 2024.

They were also awarded a Area Valor Recognition in mid-2024.

"The efforts of each policeman in the end saved one another and resulted in no members of the public endured any wounds."

Brown was given to an psychiatric detention in April 2024, per the department.
